Making the decision to earn money online is not something that you should take lightly. The truth is that if you want to attain success, you must plan and set goals. However, when you set your goals, you must truly be honest with yourself. Ask yourself if you are setting your goals up so that you succeed, or so that you do not fail. If you set your goals so that you do not fail, you are really leaving a lot unattained.
One thing that gives comfort to individuals failing to set challenging goals, is the fact that they can come up with a believable excuse. They say that because I have children, or because I do not have enough money, I cannot earn as much money online as I would like, therefore, I will set lower expectations. However, what they should be doing is saying that because I have children, I need to earn as much money as possible, and because I do not have much money, I need to learn how to market inexpensively, but also effectively.
The truth is that each of us face circumstances which might make it more challenging than we would like to earn money online. Hence, it is quite simple to come up with reasons why we cannot do something. Having said this, what separates those who succeed from those who continue to make excuses is the fact that those who succeed realize that they can exercise control over how they allow their circumstances to affect them.
I remember encountering a salesperson who said to me, “What must I provide you with in order for you to make a purchase today?” At this point, the salesperson was attempting to expose my excuses so that they could show me that they were non-issues. Once they were able to show me that my “concerns” ceased to exist, I was almost obligated to make the purchase.
Put yourself in the shoes of the salesperson. However, in this scenario, you are selling to yourself. I want you to ask yourself what goals you would set for yourself, as they pertain to earning money online, if you knew that you would succeed?” In other words, I am not asking what you think your goals should be, I am asking how much money do you want to make as an internet marketer? Whatever your answer is, you need to make this your goal.
I once read a book which provided several interviews with individuals who were the top in their respective fields. One of the greatest commonalities which these individuals had, was their belief that if you have not experienced failure in life, then you have not striven to reach your full potential. Let us take a moment to think about this. If we always set goals that we know we are going to accomplish, will we ever reach our full potential? I highly doubt it. However, if we set challenging goals, give it our all, and fall short of reaching our goal, we will have at least achieved a higher plateau than we would have otherwise.
Having said this, apply it to your current situation where you have set a goal to earn money online. Sure, you can set a goal to earn $3500 per month, knowing that this is something that you will attain. However, is this what you really want? Will you be able to retire early making $3500 per month on the internet? Probably not. Hence, look at what you want, and life style that you dream of, and set your goals accordingly. Perhaps you want to earn $1 million per year. This works out to be approximately $83,333 per month. Make this your goal and do everything in your power to achieve this goal. If you fall short, chances are that you will be earning far more than $3,500 per month. Set your goals in accordance with your wishes, and go after them.
