Can You Really Make Money From Twitter?
Some time back I decided to test the theory if I could make money from twitter. So I did just that. As a background I had 6500 followers the day of the test, not a big number but hey bigger than 6. This took me 8 weeks to grow and now I am putting on around 1000 a week. Important to note that these are all in my niche. Anyway back to the point.
Simply, I decided to tweet an affiliate link. I chose one that would give me all the tracking statistics. Also I used tweet later, I set up that I would tweet, six times in total. The reason for this mainly is that I am on Irish time and most of my followers are in the USA. So what I wrote was @ Matt Bacak and Shawn Casey together, what more could you want? to make money on line. Go here http://www.ipcgold.com/ad/2079/CD74819.
So what happened I had 36 clicks and no sales. Which in sales terms is 0.005% of a reaction ratio. Also I need to say I did this on a Saturday night, when you expect a lot of people to be tweeting. What has my experiment proved?
That Twitter is hit and miss, its not a precise tool. Its not to be treated as a list, more like an ad in a supermarket or a newspaper. I prefer list marketing but how so ever I do have a targeted followers. So to be honest I would have expected a bigger reaction. So that did not happen lets look at some reasons why not.
1. This is social media its not meant to be precise.
2. No one could care less, well my followers are IM based and the product is an IM one. So that should have been a runner.
The last reason is people have so many tweets coming across their screens, that there is no way they can read them all. I get over 1200 tweets a minute so maybe they just can’t read them all. Solution tweet like hell. Not just six, perhaps six every hour.
People buy from who they know; this is where twitter can help you greatly. By getting known, so create a relationship on Twitter. This is the best way I believe you can make money on Twitter. Oh sorry one other way, sell a course on making money on twitter.
